Strategic thinkers do it differently. They understand and dig deeper with regards to analyzing processes, developing and applying performance metrics, collecting data and producing analytics to make more informed decisions. Strategic thinkers have high levels of critical thinking skills. When it comes to decision making, they are more contemplative and ask more thoughtful questions. They challenge themselves, colleagues, employees, supervisors and executives to consider answers for these questions.

Terina Allen, 3 Unmistakable Signs That You Are A Strategic Thinker, forbes.com, 20/11/2018

Strategic management, regardless of whether it is used within business administration or not, is just a useful ability for an individual to possess.

While it was a key focus within my Lean MBA, strategic management was a focus I cultivated beyond my business studies because I knew that it would be an invaluable competency for all the concentrations of my MTA Portfolio.

Strategic thinking is an essential aptitude for the 21st-century. Whether you are shaping your career, building a long-term financial plan, emigrating away from toxic political climates, family planning in a climate crisis world or navigating your way through a pandemic, etc., cultivating a broad view mindset and building a flexible strategy for yourself is a sure-fire way to succeed in a century gone mad.

After diving into an overview of strategic thinking and how business ethics can have a huge influence on it (and vice versa), I went even further by undertaking a 4-month strategic management specialization on Coursera (this why I have two courses both called Strategic Management).

The learning I have gained from this module I have already put to effective use in all the final projects of this MTA Portfolio and it is learning that will no doubt prove to be invaluable for all my endeavours moving forwards.
